Moroccan hip-hop special!
This week, I'm very happy to have as my (virtual) guest Kendra Salois, ethnomusicology student at Berkeley, who is guiding us through some of the most representative hip hop tracks from Morocco. Extremely popular since a few years, and definitely politically expressive, hip-hop is the genre of choice for many young Moroccans, and one of the most interesting (and coolest ;) means of cultural expression in that country today...
The second hour of the show features music from the Indian Ocean, Western Africa, and France.
Enjoy!
